We have listened to your views and will be changing our on the day emergency doctor appointments.
We have at least one clinician in the morning and one clinician in the afternoon who has capacity to deal with emergencies on the day. We will now make all of those appointments available to book from 8am in the morning. The receptionist will ask you for a brief description which helps the doctor to manage (triage) the emergencies on the day. Each case will be called by the doctor in turn-if a face to face appointment is needed, the doctor will advise you which time to attend. We will still have two different lists-one for the morning, which runs from 08h30 until 12h30, and one for the afternoon which runs from 14h00 until 18h00.
What is changing:
You will be able to book a slot for the morning list or the afternoon list. Please ensure you are available to speak to the doctor and come in during your chosen session. There will be no opportunity to add you to the afternoon list if you are not able to attend in the morning but have asked for the morning session.
(You will no longer have to call back after 12h30 for the afternoon list).
Please note that there is a finite capacity for both the morning and the afternoon sessions-this is to ensure we can safely manage each patient. If the reception team advises that we are full you have the following options:
- Submit an eConsult
- Contact 111 (we are contractually obliged to keep appointments back for NHS111 and our reception team are not able to book these directly)
- Attend an Urgent Care Centre
- Attend the emergency department in the event of an accident or emergency
